St. Mary Church 200 Club
The St. Mary Church 200 Club was founded by parish member Jim Wirscham, the very active Gert Wirscham’s son, about 1975. The first dinner was held in the Marian Building and chicken and cabbage rolls were served even back then. When the new hall opened, the Holy Name Society and Jim Fada took over running the club and managed it successfully for the next 20 some years. When the Holy Name Society ceased to exist, the 200 Club was turned over to the St. Mary School Boosters.
A $30.00 membership fee to join the 200 Club entitles each member to a drawing for $50.00 every week starting with the first week in January and continues for 26 weeks. A dinner and raffle are held the first Saturday in June for the members and five $200.00 checks are given away. The process is repeated in July with a dinner and raffle held the first Saturday in December.
Parish members Lori Fitch and Maureen Kuebler continue to chair the popular moneymaking club with proceeds going to help pay for assistant teachers and other operating expenses at the school. There are presently about 250 members including all of St. Mary School’s teachers, assistants, and administrators.
