Take Time for Stewardship
In today’s busy world it is often hard to look outside of our own home and busy schedules to see how we can be helpful to someone else. Moments of peace and tranquility are often hard to come by, but when they do happen, what do you do? Do you ever just sit in a pew, or stand in the parking lot of the grocery store, or look across your street to the neighbor you only see once in a great while? It’s amazing what you see when you are really looking. We have been so conditioned to be spectators we miss opportunities to jump in and see how we can help.
Stewardship is not just about writing a check, it is about doing. It can be as easy as taking that Sunday paper at the bottom of the driveway to the doorstep, so an elderly gentleman doesn’t have to struggle down a snow covered path. Stewardship is not just for parents or older adults. It is for everyone. Even the 1st grader who is learning to read can share a story with a buddy who is struggling.
Everyday we have a chance to make a difference in somebody else’s life. At St. Mary, there are many ways you can be of service to your parish family. You have been asked to fill out a stewardship form which specifies your time, talent and treasure. There are times when we are in need of assistance and sometimes there is a lull. However, we often wait to be asked to do something. As they often say, “if you see a need, fill a need.” At St. Mary we are encouraging you and your family to consider filling a need that we may have missed. It could be a project that you and your family might want to take on and oversee. Why wait for the “phone call,” when you can just stop, look and listen around you. Someone is probably already “calling you,” you just have to listen.
Our St. Mary Stewardhip Committee is always seeking new ways to be of service to our Parish Family. If you have any thoughts or ideas, please contact the Parish Office at 440.323.5539. Why wait?
